25 years ago, building a bbq joint in this part of Richmond was taking a chance...there were few other businesses in the vicinity, lots of shuttered or abandoned buildings nearby, and the biggest steady draw was the AAA baseball stadium for the Richmond Braves (meaning, 6 months/year with no baseball goers). Despite these disadvantages, Buz and Ned's opened, an early pioneer in what was otherwise a dining desert. Fast forward to today, and B and N continue to be amazing representatives of Richmond. Their food beat Bobby Flay's head to head, and they give 10% of all monthly food sales to support community charities. So you can eat there and know your money is helping others.

About that food: loads of combinations of classic bbq, and it is all good. It is rare to find a bbq joint where the beef is as good as the pork options (or vice versa), but B and N's is a rare exception. I opted for the combo of pulled pork and beef brisket, with sides of hush puppies and mac and three cheeses, plus a big iced tea. Man, goooooood eatin'!!! I wish this review let you taste how good the bbq is. I'm a southerner and picky about my bbq. It's moist, delicious, and quality meat beneath the sauce. Don't wait: head over to Buz and Ned's!!

I've now had a chance to try both Buz and Ned's locations. While the character of this one is way cooler with the outside seating and the small inside dining room, I preferred the brisket at the other.

Meeting up with friends for a weeknight dinner, we had no trouble getting parking and an inside seat. Still too warm to sit outside. And the inside dining room had room the whole time.

At the counter, I ordered the "large" brisket and this time with double cole slaw and the cucumber & onion salad. A very good portion of cole slaw which was crisp and delicious. The cucumbers and onions needed a bit more time of soaking as the flavors hadn't completely melded. The brisket was cooked properly and flavorful but I did not care for the sauce that they put on it. It really wasn't needed this time and it took away from the flavor of the meat.

Only four stars this time. I'll have to get back and try again.

We are steady customers so this review is hard to write.
We ordered and received a rack of ribs. It was the first time we ordered the ribs. We were really disappointed. The two stars are for the rich smoky flavor. The bones were huge but very little meat. The membrane on the bottom was not pulled off so it was near impossible to remove the meat. One rib was nothing but the bone. Would definitely not order that again. I would stick to the brisket.
It was a take out order so we could not return it.

Killer BBQ place. Went there for my birthday and sat at the bar. It was Wednesday so they had "whiskey Wednesday" flights on special. A perfect pairing to brisket!

We tried the dry rub wings appetizer and they were amazing!

The bar gal was great and super attentive and friendly. She explained the menu and made us feel at home. The whiskey flight was killer!

The only thing we didn't totally love was the Mac and cheese. It was tasty but a bit dry.

To be honest I thought it was just okay. I got the sliders because I wanted to sample more types of meat. It came with pulled pork, chicken, and brisket. I liked the brisket the best out of the three. The pork and chicken had a slightly weird flavor to me. The BBQ sauce was also a little too saturated for my taste.

The coleslaw didn't seem super fresh. I did like the fries and hushpuppies - they were fresh and crispy. I question how old the sauces on the table were.

Overall, not super impressed. Also the price was higher than I would have liked. Would probably not try to come back here again.
